This expansion adds to the project completed in the last quarter of 2025, which has a capacity of 2.3 MWh. With the new investment, the plant’s capacity will increase to 7 MWh, tripling its power within an area of 7–8 hectares in front of the four MAERZ Swiss-origin kilns.
In this way, Caleras San Juan will generate 100% of the electrical energy required for its processes, reducing energy dependence and greenhouse gas emissions. It involves operating with clean energy that slows climate change, effectively protects the environment, and reduces the use of fossil fuels.
With this new step, the company’s eco-sustainable green lime project is consolidated. The company has incorporated two forests of native species, north and south, flanking the area where the kilns are located, while also adding new plantations in the truck yard area. In these areas, more than 1,300 native species of algarrobo and aguaribay have been planted.
Additionally, four hectares of olive trees have been added in Divisadero on an eight-hectare property, whose fruits are donated to the Sarmiento agro-industrial school, where olive oil is produced. On the remaining four hectares, onions have been planted for seed recovery along with native algarrobo species.
Thus, by incorporating agricultural activities, expanding the photovoltaic park, and promoting efficient water use, Caleras San Juan has established the first eco-sustainable green lime project in Latin America and the world, aligned with the global demand for clean projects that protect people and provide a better quality of life.
