The Government of Catamarca and the Municipality of the Capital agreed to move forward with the creation of a Mining Hub, aimed at bringing together agencies, departments and activities related to the mining sector. The agreement provides for the donation to the province of municipal properties located in the south of the city, which must be used exclusively for infrastructure development.

The agreement was signed by Governor Raúl Jalil and Mayor Gustavo Saadi, together with other provincial and municipal officials, as well as authorities from the state-owned mining company CAMYEN.
The agreement establishes that the Municipality will transfer properties it owns in the area of Bicentenario Avenue. One of them will be used for the construction of an administrative complex that will bring together departments of the Ministry of Mining, CAMYEN and other agencies related to the activity. The second site will have logistics and operational functions. It is expected to include drill core storage, as well as storage facilities for machinery and vehicles.
CAMYEN Vice President Gabriel Molina highlighted the signing of the agreement and explained that the Mining Hub will make it possible to bring together departments linked to the activity and move forward with the decentralization of public offices. “Catamarca is a mining province and we have to know how to capitalize on all these resources we have,” he said.
Decentralization and Urban Development
The initiative is part of a process to decentralize public agencies currently located in the city centre. The project also contemplates the urban development of the area where the Mining Hub will be located, with the incorporation of service infrastructure and land-use planning.
