Yacimientos Mineros de Agua de Dionisio (YMAD) has opened a public tender to acquire equipment for its Farallón Negro mining operation, located in the Belén department of Catamarca province, Argentina. The tender covers the combined purchase of four underground mining equipment units, along with technological solutions and related services to support their operation.
By Panorama Minero
The procurement process corresponds to Public Tender No. 007/26, YMAD File No. 0793/26, which provides for the consolidated acquisition of four underground mining equipment units, together with a fleet management system and the associated after-sales and implementation services.
The contract therefore comprises two components: mining equipment and a fleet management solution. The official notice does not specify the technical characteristics or types of machinery required. These details must be obtained from the tender documents.
A Long-Established Mining Operation in Catamarca
Farallón Negro is part of the Agua de Dionisio mining district, in the Belén department, and is one of Catamarca’s long-established gold and silver mining operations.
The operation is managed by YMAD, an entity established under Argentina’s Law No. 14,771 to conduct mineral exploration, extraction, commercialization and processing activities in the area.
During 2026, the company underwent a change in its institutional structure. Under Decree 2/2026, published in January, the Argentine federal government formally withdrew from YMAD, establishing a new ownership structure with 60% held by Catamarca province and 40% by the National University of Tucumán.
