According to data from the Employment and Business Dynamics Observatory (OEDE), Catamarca reached 35,865 registered private-sector workers in July, representing 515 additional jobs compared with December 2025, an increase of 1.5%.

According to the report, produced by an agency under the national government's Ministry of Human Capital, registered private-sector salaried employment in the province showed signs of recovery in May and June, following declines recorded at the beginning of 2026.

The July figures indicate that this trend continued, with a positive balance for the year to date.

National Data for June

According to the Employment and Business Dynamics Observatory (OEDE), part of Argentina's Secretariat of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Catamarca recorded 34,900 registered private-sector workers in June, compared with 34,600 in May, representing an increase of approximately 0.9%.

With this result, the province recorded two consecutive months of growth in the national measurement.

These figures are seasonally adjusted to identify monthly trends. Provincial data, by contrast, count workers in each period without seasonal adjustment, resulting in different totals.

Mining: 3,271 Direct Workers

Mining employment reached 3,271 registered direct workers, an increase of 5.7% compared with December.

Compared with June, the sector added 79 jobs, representing growth of 2.5%.

The provincial government highlighted these figures, stating that they come amid increasing investment in the sector, supported by instruments such as the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI), which, according to the government's position, enable mining projects to move forward and generate formal employment.

Meanwhile, construction employment reached 4,062 workers, an increase of 201 jobs compared with June and monthly growth of 5.2%.

The sector therefore recorded two consecutive months of recovery and reduced its cumulative decline compared with December from 17.7% to 13.4%.

Governor's Statements

Following the release of these figures, the provincial government highlighted the evolution of employment.

It also announced that it would continue promoting labour inspection and employment registration measures to strengthen formal employment and improve working conditions.

In this context, Governor Raúl Jalil stated on social media:

“Registered private-sector employment continues to show positive figures in Catamarca, and this is good news for our province.”

“We have added 515 registered jobs so far this year, with progress in mining and a recovery in construction,” he said.

He added that the challenge now is to “consolidate this growth, strengthen production and ensure that more and more families can access formal employment.”
