The new spaces were officially inaugurated by Governor Raúl Jalil, accompanied by Mining Minister Teresita Regalado, Secretary of Cultural Management Laura Maubecin, and representatives of Zijin-Liex.
A Space Dedicated to Lithium
According to CATA officials, one of the new exhibits offers an immersive experience designed to explain the role of lithium in energy storage and the broader energy transition.
The exhibition seeks to provide visitors with information about the mineral's applications and its use in technologies associated with electrification and emissions reduction.
According to organizers, the exhibit focuses on highlighting lithium's role within the value chains linked to emerging energy technologies.
Territorial Identity and Local Production
The second exhibit focuses on different aspects of Catamarca's territorial identity.
The space incorporates representations of landscapes, native wildlife and productive activities found across the province.
Among the featured themes are pepper cultivation, walnut production and other elements associated with Catamarca's natural and productive heritage.
According to organizers, the objective is to provide an integrated perspective on the different activities that shape the province's economic and cultural identity.
An Educational Approach
During the inauguration, Mining Minister Teresita Regalado said the lithium exhibit seeks to explain the impact of the mineral through its applications and practical uses.
According to the minister, the exhibit approaches lithium through its contribution to energy storage, emissions reduction and the broader challenges associated with the energy transition.
Jalil Highlights Provincial Potential
During the tour, Governor Raúl Jalil stated that the new exhibits expand CATA's educational and cultural offerings while providing visitors with insights into the province's production and natural resources.
The governor noted that visitors will be able to learn about lithium development as well as other productive activities that form part of Catamarca's economy.
A Center for Technology and Public Outreach
The Center for Applied Art and Technology (CATA) operates in the former Government House building in downtown Catamarca and was conceived as a space dedicated to innovation, culture and public outreach.
