As part of its commitment to social and community development, MARA celebrated the inauguration of three significant projects for Andalgalá: the completion of Casa Huarmi and improvements to the sports and recreational infrastructure of the Club Ferrocarril Independiente and the Asociación de Veteranos de Andalgalá, through the modernization of their facilities.

With the participation of numerous women from the Women’s Association of Andalgalá, Mayor Eduardo Córdoba, representatives from the MARA company, and the workers who carried out the project, Casa Huarmi was inaugurated last Thursday.

"Each of these projects reflects our commitment to the social development of the community. The completion of Casa Huarmi will allow more than 70 women to access a safe and equipped space for their personal and professional growth," highlighted Nicanor Elizondo, Community Relations Manager at MARA.

This new meeting space offers support, training, and development opportunities for hundreds of women in the area. Thanks to the contribution from MARA and the work of local labor, carried out by the Andalgalá-based company NR Construcciones y Servicios, the plastering, installation of windows, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as the cladding and painting of the building were completed.

Gladys Lencina, a member of the Women’s Association of Andalgalá, expressed her emotions: “I want to thank the women of Huarmi, who made this possible with their effort and commitment. Now, the challenge is for the community to take ownership of the space and make it their own, promoting the growth and well-being of many more people. Although it’s a space created for women, it is intended for everyone’s use.”

A sidewalk made of tiles and a smooth concrete access were also built, significantly improving accessibility. In this way, Casa Huarmi – a project that took over three decades to complete – consolidates itself as a reference for community strengthening and gender equality in Andalgalá.

As part of the improvements in sports and recreational infrastructure, MARA also contributed to two key spaces in the community. At Club Ferrocarril Independiente, renovations were made to the locker rooms and bathrooms, the electrical system was modernized, improvements were made to the main field, and access for people with reduced mobility was adjusted.

At the clubs that are part of the Veterans’ Association – Villa Vil, Huracán, Industrial, and Libertad – work was done on roofs, plastering, flooring, and common spaces, providing greater safety and comfort for hundreds of players and their families who regularly attend sports events.

With these initiatives, MARA strengthens its ties with the community, promoting the development of inclusive local spaces. Through transparent dialogue and collaborative work, the mining company reaffirms its commitment to sustainable growth that creates opportunities for everyone.
