NewPeak Metals presented its activities report for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, a period in which Las Opeñas, in the province of San Juan, accounted for the company’s main exploration advances. The final results from the first diamond drilling campaign confirmed, according to the company, a gold, zinc, silver and lead mineralized system, with two intersections of more than 650 metres from surface.
By Panorama Minero
The initial program comprised six diamond drill holes totalling 2,464 metres. Among the main results was discovery hole 26-LODH-023, which intersected mineralization along its 663 metres, from surface to the end of the hole, grading 0.42 g/t gold equivalent (AuEq). The intersection included 0.16 g/t gold, 0.65% zinc, 4.53 g/t silver and 0.10% lead.
Within that interval, 283 metres grading 0.67 g/t AuEq from 7 metres and 465 metres grading 0.50 g/t AuEq from surface were identified.
For its part, follow-up hole 26-LODH-027, located east of the previous hole, reported a second intersection of more than 650 metres: 657 metres grading 0.30 g/t AuEq from surface, including 117 metres grading 0.60 g/t AuEq from 77 metres and 284 metres grading 0.40 g/t AuEq from the same depth.
The remaining drill holes also provided results on the system: 26-LODH-025 recorded 280 metres grading 0.20 g/t AuEq from surface; 26-LODH-026, 141 metres grading 0.30 g/t AuEq from 295 metres; and 26-LODH-024, 24 metres grading 0.25 g/t AuEq from 81 metres. Hole 26-LODH-028, drilled to evaluate an interpreted fault contact north of 26-LODH-023, did not record significant intersections.
New Phase of Drilling
Holes 26-LODH-023 and 26-LODH-027, located in the western sector of the target area, delivered the most significant results of the campaign. Based on the information obtained, NewPeak interpreted an increase in gold grades toward the southwest, in the direction of the Belleza Breccia volcanic centre, considered by the company to be the possible source of the mineralizing fluid system. The company indicated that the mineralization would remain open in that direction.
On this basis, NewPeak plans to begin in mid-October a second phase of diamond drilling of at least 1,000 metres, aimed at evaluating the western extension of the mineralized system toward Belleza Breccia and advancing the definition of the Las Opeñas geological model.
The campaign is funded with proceeds from a A$3.5 million share placement. The company reported that it has already secured the drilling rig and that earthworks are under way.
NewPeak also has permits to carry out up to an additional 7,500 metres of drilling during 2026. Any extension of the program will depend on exploration results, core observations, rig availability and funding. Laboratory results from the second phase are expected between six and eight weeks after the samples are submitted.
