On 17 March 2026, representatives of Minas Argentinas held an institutional meeting with the Mayor of Jáchal, Dr Matías Espejo, during which they presented the structure of the team that will be responsible for the company’s Community Relations area.
In this context, it was announced that the Health, Safety and Environment Manager, Mg. Lic. Ariel Alfonso, will also assume responsibility for Community Relations, strengthening the coordination of the company’s institutional and community engagement actions within the department. This results in the creation of the SSMAC (Health, Safety, Environment and Communities) management structure.
In addition, Soledad Baigorri was introduced as the new Head of Community Relations, joining the team responsible for managing the company’s relationship with the Jáchal community and other areas of influence of the mine.
A native of Jáchal, Soledad holds a degree in International Relations and an MBA in Corporate Communications Management. She brings extensive experience in the mining industry, particularly in community management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications.
The meeting was attended by the General Manager of Minas Argentinas, Gabriel Corvo; the Administration Manager, Fernando Moncho; the Health, Safety, Environment and Communities Manager, Ariel Alfonso; the Community Relations Supervisor, Zulema Aciar; and the newly appointed Head of Community Relations, Soledad Baigorri.
Gualcamayo, the mining operation that in 2022 was heading towards closure, is now accelerating its growth following a record-breaking 2025 and the advancement of the DCP (Deep Carbonates Project), which less than 60 days ago received approval under the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI). The project envisages an investment of USD 665 million and the creation of more than 700 new jobs.
In its latest report, Minas Argentinas recorded 7.1 million ounces of gold in resources, of which 4.9 million are classified as proven and probable reserves under the Canadian NI 43-101 standard. During 2025, more than ARS 11.1 billion were invested in prospecting and geophysical analysis across the district, including over 11,400 metres of drilling, as well as the construction of a tunnel and an access ramp exceeding 300 metres towards the mineralised zone—an undertaking that required an additional investment of over ARS 5 billion.
