The agreement was signed by Marcelo Alvarez, Vice-President of the San Juan Mining Chamber, and Silvina Bellantig, Head of Grupo Petersen’s Mining Unit and Director of Banco San Juan.
The initiative establishes a framework for cooperation between the two institutions to identify the needs of the mining industry and its value chain, and to assess measures that could strengthen links between companies in the sector and the financial system.
Training and Business Networking
The planned areas of cooperation include organising training programmes, exchanging information and developing business networking opportunities.
The agreement also provides for the identification and assessment of joint proposals addressing the requirements of mining companies and their suppliers.
Silvina Bellantig highlighted the role that Grupo Petersen’s Mining Unit aims to play in this process.
“Our fundamental focus, given our local presence and close relationships, is to support the operations of each company and its value chain,” she stated.
For his part, Marcelo Alvarez referred to the need to coordinate efforts between business organisations and financial institutions.
“It is essential to establish interaction between the chambers, suppliers and the financial system. We need to work systematically to create a thriving ecosystem for everything that lies ahead for mining in the province,” he stated.
Coordination with the Innovation and Development Committee
Institutional cooperation will also be linked to the activities of the San Juan Mining Chamber’s Innovation and Development Committee.
Within this framework, both organisations will seek to exchange knowledge and experience and identify potential joint initiatives involving the financial sector.
The agreement establishes an initial framework for cooperation to assess and develop initiatives addressing the needs of mining activities and their supplier value chain in San Juan.
