Around 120 people will participate in courses in welding, construction, heavy equipment operation and electricity in Andalgalá, Belén and Santa María.

MARA will move forward with new technical training programs in Andalgalá, Belén and Santa María, aimed at around 120 participants and focused on four specialties: welding, construction, heavy equipment operation and electricity.
The initiative is being carried out together with the Catamarca Ministry of Education and Labor and Fundación UOCRA, as part of the training framework maintained by the institutions. The courses will last 160 hours, with a theoretical and practical format in which 70% of the total course hours will be devoted to practical activities. The content will also include Health and Safety and Labor Relations.
“We seek to ensure that these programs enable participants to develop technical knowledge and skills that can be applied in the workplace. We are working in coordination to provide training with a strong practical component, aimed at technical profiles linked to different productive activities,” said Javier Carranza, MARA Human Capital Manager.
Initial Activities in Belén and Santa María
The new training programs will begin on September 25 in Belén and Santa María, with awareness sessions and the start of the Heavy Equipment Operator courses.
In Belén, activities will take place at Vocational Training Center No. 4, while in Santa María they will be held at the Technical and Professional Center’s Workshop Classroom. The Ministry of Education and Labor will be responsible for supporting the call for participants and pre-registration, as well as institutional coordination and monitoring of the activities.
Interested participants will be able to consult schedules, requirements, available places and the different programs through the Labor Training Campus of the Catamarca Ministry of Education and Labor.
In the case of training related to heavy equipment operation, the program will include simulator-based practical training. Material released by MARA also shows practical activities involving machinery and technical work carried out in training environments.
Continuation of Training Programs
The new programs add to the recent Driller Assistant and Heavy Equipment Operator training courses, in which 48 people participated.
In this way, the new program expands the scope of the training activities jointly developed by MARA, the Government of Catamarca and Fundación UOCRA, with a focus on technical profiles linked to productive activities.
MARA is a copper, molybdenum, gold and silver project located in western Catamarca and is currently at the advanced exploration stage. The project contemplates the development of the Agua Rica deposit using Minera Alumbrera-YMAD infrastructure. Glencore is the owner and operator of MARA.
