According to a report from Argentina’s Secretariat of Mining, the price of lithium carbonate in Asia averaged US$8,477 per ton in July, a 4.7% monthly rebound following the suspension of operations in China. Although still 33% below 2024 levels, the increase reignited debate over supply security and the surging demand from electric vehicle manufacturers.

Against this backdrop of volatility and anticipation, the 14th edition of Lithium in South America will take place on September 29–30 in Catamarca, organized by Panorama Minero. The event will feature the governments of Catamarca, Jujuy, and Salta; Argentina’s Secretary of Mining; leading companies such as Rio Tinto, Ganfeng Lithium, Lithium Argentina, and Eramet; multilateral organizations including the European Union, the IDB, and AFD; industry representatives like the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA); and international experts such as Joe Lowry, Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, S&P Global Platts, Fastmarkets, and the British Geological Survey, among others.

Over two days, the Lithium Triangle will serve as the epicenter for discussions on prices, investment, regulation, infrastructure, and market outlooks, consolidating the seminar as the region’s premier business forum for the lithium sector.

“We expect this to be a crucial edition for all stakeholders who have supported the event since its early years, as it will allow us to anticipate key trends in a context of high volatility, signs of price recovery, and lithium’s growing role in the industries of the future,” the organizers stated.

The event is expected to gather more than one thousand participants in the provincial capital of Catamarca. “These encounters create value, and that value translates into investments and agreements between key stakeholders. This event was designed precisely with that purpose: to contribute to the global development of lithium while showcasing the potential of Catamarca, Jujuy, and Salta,” they concluded.
