Yacimientos Mineros Agua de Dionisio (YMAD) is undergoing a period of strong operational growth, with its self-produced gold output now exceeding 60 kilograms per month—the highest production level in the company's history, according to José Roberto Toledo, representative of the National University of Tucumán (UNT). This milestone is accompanied by a strategy focused on attracting new investment in exploration and strategic projects to support the future development of mining in Catamarca.

According to Toledo, the current production level represents a historic record for the company and reflects improvements in the operational processes implemented in recent years.
"This cycle is coming to an end, and it is doing so at a very positive economic moment because the company is producing more than 60 kilograms of gold per month. That is a historic record. It is YMAD's own production, and the company has significantly improved its efficiency and operating methods," said the representative of the National University of Tucumán.
Based on a gold price of approximately US$132,500 per kilogram, Toledo estimated that the company's monthly production is worth around US$8 million.
Exploration and Investment for a New Growth Phase
Beyond its current production performance, Toledo noted that YMAD is pursuing a strategy aimed at expanding its project portfolio through new exploration campaigns. In this regard, he explained that the company has signed more than 15 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with mining companies interested in developing projects, although he clarified that no definitive agreements have yet been finalized.
He also noted that exploration activities continue both at Farallón Negro and across other areas administered by YMAD, with investments aimed at expanding geological knowledge and identifying new mineral resources.
These efforts complement the recent announcement by YMAD President Fernando Jalil, who confirmed that the company is working to attract investors to advance a new exploration campaign at the Peirano Block, regarded as one of the company's strategic projects for the future.
Energy as a Strategic Factor
As part of its long-term planning, Toledo also highlighted the potential development of a photovoltaic power project at Campo del Arenal, an initiative that could help reduce one of the mining industry's most significant operating costs.
"Energy is one of mining's major costs. Having our own power generation in a place like Campo del Arenal could provide a significant advantage," he said.
According to Toledo, the region's natural conditions make it well suited to supplying future mining operations with renewable energy.
