The Los Azules project has resumed operations at the Candadito camp, located in Calingasta Department, San Juan Province, following the temporary demobilisation of personnel in July due to adverse weather conditions.

According to the company, the camp resumed normal operations after access routes were restored, facilities were prepared and the services required to accommodate personnel were re-established.

Candadito is an intermediate logistics camp that provides support and serves as a changeover point for workers and equipment. It is located 3,150 metres above sea level, 54 kilometres from Villa Calingasta and 79 kilometres from Barreal.

The facilities are currently authorised to accommodate up to 36 people and have supplies of food, water and fuel.

Infrastructure and Access Road Works

The reactivation of the camp allows Los Azules to continue its planned infrastructure works as the project progresses towards the construction stage.

The planned activities include improvements to the existing access road, surveying and setting out the new road alignment, construction works along that alignment, and the installation of culverts.

The company indicated that the demobilisation of personnel in July was a precautionary measure intended to prevent workers from being exposed to the adverse weather conditions recorded in the area.

As conditions improved, teams resumed activities at the camp.

Coordination of Operational Activities

Emmanuel Navarta, General Services Superintendent at Los Azules, explained that the reactivation required the involvement of several project departments and the contractor responsible for the camp.

"Health and Safety, Roads and General Services worked in coordination, together with our camp contractor, to restore access routes, prepare the facilities and re-establish services," he said.

Navarta also highlighted that the resumption of operations means personnel can once again be accommodated at Candadito, with the services required to carry out the planned activities available.

According to Los Azules, the restoration of operational conditions at the camp will allow the infrastructure works planned for this stage of the project to continue.
