Yacimientos Mineros de Agua de Dionisio (YMAD) approved the distribution of US$22 million in dividends corresponding to the 2025 fiscal year, in a unanimous decision adopted during the Board of Directors meeting held on June 25. The measure comes as part of a process of institutional and productive consolidation that has led the state-owned company to achieve sustained surpluses.

The Board meeting was attended by YMAD President Fernando Jalil, together with Catamarca-appointed directors Marcelo Murúa and Marcos Denett, and representatives of the National University of Tucumán (UNT), Domingo Marchese and José Roberto Toledo.

Jalil emphasized that this new distribution reaffirms YMAD’s commitment to the growth and development of Catamarca. In this regard, he stressed that the funds transferred to the Province for the 2024 fiscal year represent resources that strengthen provincial finances and contribute to the development of public policies. According to Jalil, these results are the consequence of the commitment of the workforce, efficient management and the strategic guidelines promoted by the Board of Directors in recent years, factors that have made it possible to consolidate genuine profits generated by Farallón Negro’s own production.

In recent years, the company has also made contributions for infrastructure, hospitals, provincial roads and social housing, under a model that combines dividend distributions with the financing of strategic projects for Catamarca.

The distribution of profits comes following a major update to YMAD’s institutional framework, with the recent approval of its new Statute, signed by Catamarca Governor Raúl Jalil and acting UNT Vice Rector Cristina Grunauer de Falú. The reform completed an institutional adjustment process initiated in 2024, following the National Government’s Necessity and Urgency Decree that prompted a redefinition of the company’s operating framework.

YMAD’s productive activity is concentrated at the Farallón Negro underground mine, in Belén Department, which has been operating since the late 1970s through underground mining and leaching processing to produce gold and silver equivalents. For many years, the operation recorded negative financial results; however, the current administration managed to reverse this situation and achieve surplus-generating financial results, allowing the company to sustain investments, finance new exploration work and distribute dividends generated by mining activities.

The mine currently produces more than 60 kilograms per month of gold and silver equivalents and, thanks to exploration campaigns carried out in recent years, has extended its mine life by at least 13 years.

Institutional Meeting

YMAD President Fernando Jalil, together with directors Marcelo Murúa and Marcos Denett, recently received representatives of Banco Santander and the Federal Investment Council (CFI) as part of an institutional visit to Catamarca Province.

The meeting was attended by Luciano Vega, CFI commercial representative; Raúl Guzmán, Manager of Banco Santander Catamarca; Martín Gatica, SME Business Officer; and Omar Yacir, Head of Banco Santander’s Mining segment.

During the meeting, a Program of Actions for Mining Suppliers was presented, aimed at promoting the development and strengthening of companies supplying the mining industry, with a particular focus on those forming part of YMAD’s value chain.

The initiative seeks to facilitate access to credit so that suppliers can make investments, improve their operating capacity, incorporate technology and enhance the quality of the services they provide to the mining sector, while also contributing to greater competitiveness and the growth of Catamarca’s productive ecosystem.
