Catamarca Province announced changes to its mining leadership structure. Teresita Regalado will take office as the new Minister of Mining, while current minister Marcelo Murúa will assume the role of Director at Yacimientos Mineros de Agua de Dionisio (YMAD), one of the province’s most strategic mining companies.

The decision was confirmed following a meeting led by Governor Raúl Jalil and Vice Governor Rubén Dusso, alongside officials linked to the provincial mining sector. Regalado is set to formally assume her new role in the coming days, after holding several technical and management positions within the mining area across successive administrations, most recently serving as Secretary of Mining Development.
Provincial authorities emphasized continuity in the sector’s policy framework, with a focus on environmental oversight, community engagement and employment generation linked to mining activity. In this context, Murúa will step down from the Ministry after more than four years in office to join the management of YMAD, whose board representation falls under Catamarca’s jurisdiction following agreements with the national government.
The leadership changes take place at a critical time for the province. According to official data from Argentina’s National Directorate for Mining Promotion and Economics, mining accounted for 93.2% of Catamarca’s total exports during the first eleven months of 2025, the highest share among the country’s mining provinces. The figure underscores the sector’s economic weight and the relevance of institutional and operational decisions shaping its governance.
