Within the framework of Expo San Juan Minera, Banco San Juan General Manager Silvina Bellantig reaffirmed the institution’s long-standing commitment and future vision regarding the extractive sector. With a trajectory spanning nearly two decades of specialization, the bank positions itself not only as the leading financial institution in the province, but also as a comprehensive strategic partner for large-scale mining. It should be noted that Banco San Juan is the most important financial institution in the province.

A Trajectory Built on Experience

Banco San Juan’s relationship with mining is not recent. Bellantig highlighted that the institution played a leading role during the so-called “first wave” of mining, associated with gold operations in the province. This experience allowed the institution to gain firsthand understanding of the dynamics of large-scale projects and the specific needs of each stakeholder involved.

More than 18 years ago, the bank created its first specialized mining division. According to the General Manager, that initial structure has undergone a profound transformation, evolving into what is now the Mining Financial Solutions Unit. This change is not merely nominal; it represents an evolution toward a model that understands mining as a complex ecosystem that includes major operators, their value chain, and first-ring suppliers.

Synergy and Ecosystem Strengthening

Banco San Juan’s strategy under Bellantig’s leadership focuses on interconnected solutions. The institution does not operate in isolation, but rather leverages the strength of its shareholder group, Grupo Petersen. This structure creates synergy by integrating Banco San Juan’s services with those of Banco Santa Cruz, enhancing the institution’s response capacity for large-scale projects.

One of the key pillars of this support strategy is the strategic incorporation of a Reciprocal Guarantee Society (SGR) within the group. Bellantig emphasized that this tool has been strengthened and made available to the mining value chain, facilitating access to credit and ensuring that local suppliers can scale up their operations to meet the standards of large-scale industry. She also mentioned the alignment of other companies within the group, such as its construction company, to offer a comprehensive value proposition capable of responding to the historic opportunity represented by San Juan’s natural resources.

Toward the “New Wave” of Development

For the General Manager, the current scenario presents a challenge of unprecedented scale. The imminent arrival of new large-scale projects defines what she calls a “new wave” of mining, which promises to surpass the impact once generated by the gold mining era in the province.

Bellantig emphasized that Banco San Juan’s objective is to ensure that this development becomes beneficial and generates genuine well-being for the community. Her vision is clear: the province’s wealth and resource potential must be transformed into value through synergistic work between the public sector, the private sector, and financial institutions.

Banco San Juan’s presence at Expo San Juan Minera not only celebrates its history of supporting the sector, but also projects a strategy of institutional strengthening. The evolution of its business unit into a sophisticated financial solutions center demonstrates proactive preparation to lead the financing of large-scale mining, ensuring that San Juan fully capitalizes on its economic development potential.
