From Tucumán, the plant supplies low-voltage products across Latin America under the same global manufacturing standards, demonstrating that it is possible to produce with excellence and environmental responsibility. This certification also strengthens ABB’s positioning as a key sustainable technology partner for projects currently being developed in Argentina.

ABB, a global leader in electrification, automation, and robotics technologies, has obtained the international “Mission to Zero” certification for its Bella Vista plant in Tucumán, becoming a benchmark for sustainable industrial operations in Argentina.
This distinction is the result of an investment exceeding US$ 200,000 and is part of ABB’s global Mission to Zero™ program, which aims to achieve net-zero emissions across all its operations by 2030 (an 80% reduction compared to 2019) and 2050 (100%).
Giselle Somale, Country Holding Officer for ABB Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, strategically highlighted that: “This certification reinforces ABB’s positioning as a key sustainable technology partner for projects currently under development in Argentina within the RIGI framework, especially in the mining and energy sectors, where certified sustainability is an increasingly relevant requirement.”

Bella Vista: ABB Industrial Plant with Sustainable and Global-Quality Standards
The Tucumán plant becomes one of the first facilities in Argentina to obtain the UL2799 “Zero Waste to Landfill” certification, achieving Silver status with 91.4% of waste reused, recycled, or recovered, preventing it from reaching landfills.
In addition to this new recognition, the site has held the quadruple ISO certification for more than 10 years: ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) y ISO 50001 (Energy Efficiency) This reflects a sustained commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the highest international standards.
The achievement was made possible thanks to an integrated strategy combining:
-
100% renewable energy: 15% from on-site solar panels (90 kWh installed capacity) and 85% from the local certified clean energy distributor (I-REC).
-
Full electromobility: Complete transition to electric forklifts, installation of two charging points, and acquisition of a 100% electric utility vehicle for local deliveries.
-
Energy efficiency: Upgrading compressors to IE4-standard motors and full LED lighting throughout the facilities.
-
Intelligent digital management: Continuous monitoring system optimizing production, consumption, and energy storage in real-time using machine-learning algorithms.
“We are proud to achieve this certification, which is the result of teamwork and ABB’s commitment to net-zero operations. Our dedication to industry and the environment constantly drives us to pursue innovative solutions,” said Adrián Marras, Regional Director of Electrification at ABB.
Augusto Cecilia, plant manager of Bella Vista, explained: “This project is a milestone for operations in the region and for Tucumán province in particular. We aim to turn it into a scalable success model, marking the beginning of a revolution in electrification across the entire production chain. Undoubtedly, it is a transformation that will impact not only industry but everything around us—from homes to large cities—turning them into sustainable, smart, and safe ecosystems.”
Cecilia also noted the expansion potential: “The engineering of the solar panel system allows integration with other in-house technologies, with the possibility of returning energy to the local grid during periods of low consumption.”
ABB in Argentina: 100 Years of Local Commitment
With more than a century of presence in Argentina, ABB has established itself as a strategic partner for local industry. Currently, with over 500 employees in the country, the company provides technological solutions in electrification, automation, electric motors, and robotics for the main industrial and service sectors.
The Bella Vista plant, with 4,500 m² across 3 production halls and a team of over 140 employees, manufactures thermomagnetic circuit breakers, differential switches, contactors, and capacitors supplying the Argentine and Latin American markets (Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, and the Miami Distribution Center in the USA).
About Mission to Zero™
ABB’s Mission to Zero™ program supports the company’s global commitment to reducing CO₂ emissions by 80% by 2030 and 100% by 2050 (compared to the 2019 baseline). Driven by local teams, the program focuses on improving efficiency through energy generation, management, and storage using ABB’s innovative technologies and integrations with third-party solutions.
More than half of ABB’s global revenue comes from technologies that directly contribute to combating climate change.
