Litio Minera Argentina S.A., a subsidiary of Ganfeng Lithium Latinoamérica, inaugurated an “On-Site Customs” facility at its lithium chloride processing plant located in the General Güemes Industrial Park, in Salta.
The authorization granted by the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA) makes Litio Minera Argentina the first lithium company in the province to operate under this system.
The new system will allow part of the procedures associated with the export of production to be managed directly from the plant, avoiding the need to transfer these operations to other customs facilities. For the company, this represents an improvement in logistics and operational efficiency, while also facilitating access to accurate information on export volumes and values.
Greater Participation by Salta in the Export Chain
The launch of the On-Site Customs facility adds infrastructure to a production chain that connects lithium production in the Puna with processing facilities located in the General Güemes industrial area and, from there, with international markets.
The plant’s location within the province’s industrial corridor makes it possible to integrate different stages of the export operation within Salta. In this regard, the company linked the new infrastructure to “Exporta Salta,” a provincial initiative aimed at promoting and expanding the participation of Salta-based companies in foreign trade.
The availability of specific information on the volume and value of operations also provides greater accuracy in recording the province’s export flows, particularly in a sector that has increased its share of Salta’s mining export basket in recent years.
Control and Traceability
The authorization was accompanied by the implementation of control and traceability procedures for foreign trade operations. Ganfeng highlighted the participation of ARCA and stated that the recognition reflects the processes and controls developed by the company.
The On-Site Customs system allows the inspections required for the export of goods to be concentrated at the production facilities, under the supervision of the customs authority. Its implementation therefore provides a tool designed to organize and streamline the export process.
Ganfeng’s initiative thus adds a new component to the export infrastructure associated with lithium and reinforces the role of General Güemes as a processing and logistics hub within the NOA mining supply chain.
