Control Acción is moving towards its commercial launch as a technological platform aimed at strengthening operational safety and efficiency in mining. Santiago Juárez, one of the project’s creators, explained that the tool complements existing safety systems with predictive and preventive functions, following more than two decades of experience accumulated in mining operations through the work of his father, engineer Mario Juárez.

Juárez highlighted that the application operates even without an internet connection, allows incidents to be reported through artificial intelligence and automatically synchronizes information with the cloud. In addition, it incorporates geolocation, alerts for workers and real-time control panels, facilitating risk identification, decision-making and accident prevention.

In the dynamic landscape of the mining industry, safety and the optimization of production processes have found a new technological ally in Control Acción. This solution, now in its third year of development, is in the final stages ahead of its definitive commercial launch. According to Santiago Juárez, together with his father, engineer Mario Juárez, the system does not seek to replace existing safety schemes, but rather to act as a strategic complement that provides a fundamental predictive and preventive capability for modern organizations.

Evolution from Field Experience

The origin of this development dates back to needs identified more than two decades ago at mining operations such as Veladero. Under Mario Juárez’s initial vision, the concept evolved from manual records on boards and spreadsheets into a digital tool that was successfully tested at operations such as Cerro Negro for the control of engineering standards.

Santiago Juárez explained that the current version of Control Acción has been completely rebuilt from scratch, drawing on twenty years of learning to offer a multiplatform system compatible with computers, tablets and smartphones. This modernization enables much faster and safer information management, adapted to the demands of today’s mining industry.

An Application Adapted to Operational Reality

One of the main contributions of this app to production processes is its ability to operate offline. In sectors such as mining, where connectivity may be limited or nonexistent, the application allows operators to upload reports, images, videos and audio files that are processed through artificial intelligence. Once the device detects even a minimal internet signal, the information is synchronized with the cloud, ensuring that critical operational data is not lost.

In addition, the tool introduces the concept of geofencing or satellite-based functionalities. This allows the system to send automatic notifications to workers when they enter a specific area, informing them about the most recent incidents that occurred in that location so that they can take extra precautions.

Benefits for Management and Decision-Making

Control Acción’s approach focuses on making so-called “near misses” visible, which may originate from human factors or from environmental conditions and infrastructure damage. Juárez highlighted that the application facilitates anonymous reporting, eliminating bureaucratic barriers and fear of retaliation, turning every worker into an active monitor of operational safety.

For management levels, the platform offers clear benefits for strategic decision-making:

  • Real-time metrics: Intuitive control panels that make it possible to geographically identify where risks are concentrated.
  • Versatility and customization: The system can be adapted to the needs of each company, allowing specific risk categories to be configured and operational areas to be defined on digital maps.
  • Cost reduction: By operating through cloud-based infrastructure, implementation costs remain low while information traceability is improved.

With its philosophy of eliminating unsafe actions and conditions before they turn into accidents or productivity losses, Control Acción is emerging as an essential tool for the digital transformation of the primary and industrial sectors.
