The Government of San Juan announced today (8th January 2025) the joint approval of the 5th and 6th Updates of the Environmental Impact Report for the exploitation stage of the Casposo Mine, located in the Calingasta department, with the granting of the corresponding Environmental Impact Declaration (EID).

The process began in July 2023 when Casposo submitted the 5th Update, and continued in November 2023 with the submission of the 6th Update.

In 2024, under the new leadership of Dr. Marcelo Orrego, the joint evaluation of both updates was carried out. This EID includes 86 additional requirements.

The most important aspects of the approval granted relate to the maintenance of existing infrastructure and the future reactivation of the processing plant, with the proposal of various sources of mineral to be processed. With this approval, the project reactivates its gold operation, highlighting the speed and rigor of its evaluation process during the first year of management. This milestone reaffirms San Juan's position as a leader in responsible mining, generating employment and opportunities for sustainable development in the region.
