Casposo Mine: The Government of San Juan grants the EIA of the Update of the IIA

The Government of Salta and mining company Rio Tinto are strengthening a joint working agenda aimed at consolidating the Rincón Lithium project as a cornerstone of mining, productive, and territorial development in Northwestern Argentina (NOA).

PSJ Cobre Mendocino became the project that validated, in practice, the new provincial mining policy by progressing within the constraints of Law 7,722. A story that began in January 2025 and culminated in December with a political endorsement enabling unprecedented advancement.

San Juan is positioning itself as one of the leading provinces in metal mining in Argentina, with exploration as a central pillar of its present and future development. Exploratory activity plays a key role in the identification of resources, the evaluation of their economic viability, and the reduction of risks prior to productive investment.

The Government of San Juan is carrying out a new edition of the Verano Tech 2026 program, a technological training initiative aimed at children and adolescents that, for the first time, is being implemented in mining departments of the province.

Latin Metals announced this week its intention to position the project located in the province of Salta during 2026, with the aim of finding a new partner and advancing with Phase 1 drilling. The announcement was issued just days before the expiration of the contract with AngloGold Ashanti, on January 27.
