For the sixth consecutive year, the company visited schools in six communities and delivered 550 gifts as part of Children’s Day activities.

For the sixth consecutive year, Caleras San Juan visited schools in Cienaguita, Pedernal, Divisadero, Cañada Honda, Guanacache and Retamito, in Sarmiento Department, as part of activities held to mark Children’s Day.
The initiative reached the Alejandro Mathus, José Ramírez de García, José Radice, Albert Einstein, Olegario Andrade and Batalla de Suipacha schools, with the participation of teachers, company personnel and other collaborators.
Over the course of two days, 496 gifts were distributed to students at the schools. Additional gifts were provided to a parish and a media outlet, bringing the total to 550.
Activities included quizzes, songs and different opportunities for students to participate. Some children also presented Caleras San Juan representatives with products grown and made by their families.
School principals highlighted the company’s ongoing support, which adds to previous initiatives including the repair and reopening of playgrounds, painting work and various forms of professional assistance.
Integration between Schools
During the visits, several initiatives promoted by the educational communities were also presented. Mónica Castro introduced the Escuela Vecina (Neighboring School) project, which promotes interaction with schools in Guanacache and Retamito through historical commemorations, language activities and community outreach initiatives.
The objective is to create opportunities for interaction among students attending schools in geographically distant communities.
As part of this initiative, an educational fair is scheduled for September 4, aimed at practicing reading skills, encouraging engagement with books and sharing experiences among participating schools.
Support for the Residential School
At the José Ramírez de García residential school, 28 students from vulnerable families remain under the care of teachers, who work with them on emotional and educational development with the aim of subsequently strengthening their academic performance.
During the visit, school representatives raised concerns regarding the availability of personal hygiene products for students. In response, Raúl Cabanay, General Manager of Caleras San Juan, instructed the company’s Human Resources department to arrange for the required supplies until the situation is resolved.
The company also reported that it will continue supporting the school through professionals working in the healthcare field.
During the visit, Cabanay also spoke with student Emiliano Mayorga, who once again received recognition from Caleras San Juan to support his future pursuit of higher education.
Education and Local Development
During the visit to the José Radice School, Cabanay spoke to students about the importance of education and its connection with the productive growth of Sarmiento Department.
“You are the leaders of the future and must prepare yourselves for that role. Sarmiento Department is growing in activities such as lime production, pistachios, olive oil and winemaking; it is a diverse range of activities that requires people to drive them forward, and you will play a leading role,” he said.
The executive also emphasized the role of education as a tool for social mobility and reviewed several initiatives in which Caleras San Juan participates.
These include support for the province’s literacy plan, a public-private initiative promoted by the Group of Foundations and Companies (GDFE), for which the company received the Commitment Seal.
In addition, Caleras San Juan provides scholarship programs for young people from the surrounding area and for the children of company employees.
