Junior mining company Bai Tau Minerals, headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan, made its first visit to Catamarca following a series of virtual meetings with state-owned company CAMYEN, during which it expressed its interest in learning more about the province’s geological potential.

During the meeting, CAMYEN’s Board of Directors received representatives of the Kazakh company and moved forward with plans for a field visit to some of the areas included in the state-owned company’s property portfolio that will soon be opened to public tender processes.

The visit represents a new step in the relationship established between the two companies and will allow Bai Tau Minerals representatives to gain first-hand knowledge of the characteristics of the areas that form part of CAMYEN’s portfolio.

Representing Bai Tau Minerals were Kirill Zimin, Head of International Business Development; Atur Maryan, Chief Geologist of the Latin America Division; and Ilya Terentyev, Head of Geology at BTM. CAMYEN was represented by Vice President Gabriel Molina and Board Member Agustina Lencina.

International Interest in Geological Potential

CAMYEN highlighted that the engagement with the Kazakh company forms part of its efforts to promote Catamarca’s mining potential and generate opportunities for the development of new exploration projects.

“The completion of these meetings and the possibility for interested companies to conduct field visits are the result of the work we are carrying out to showcase Catamarca’s geological potential and promote the development of our mining industry,” the state-owned company stated.

Within this framework, the field visit will provide a deeper understanding of the areas that will soon be incorporated into public tender processes and provide potential investors with direct information on the mining properties.

Bai Tau’s interest follows several virtual meetings during which the company expressed its intention to learn about the opportunities Catamarca offers for mineral exploration. The in-person visit therefore represents a further step in the assessment of the alternatives available in the province.

CAMYEN Seeks to Expand Exploration Activity

The engagement with Bai Tau Minerals forms part of CAMYEN’s strategy to enhance the value of its property portfolio and promote new mining investment opportunities in Catamarca.

The state-owned company is working to identify and promote areas with geological potential for inclusion in future exploration and development processes. Under this approach, opening properties through public tenders seeks to facilitate the entry of new players and expand knowledge of the province’s mineral resources.

The arrival of a junior company from Kazakhstan also adds an international dimension to this strategy, in a context in which exploration companies play an important role in the early stages of identifying and evaluating new resources.

Bai Tau Minerals

Bai Tau Minerals is a junior mining company headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan, specializing in the exploration and development of solid mineral deposits, both in Central Asia and other regions.

According to information provided by the company, it currently has a portfolio of 16 exploration projects, primarily located in Kazakhstan, two of which are at an advanced stage.

Its objectives include expanding its presence both in its home country and in other markets, in line with its stated interest in exploring new opportunities outside Central Asia.

In Catamarca, the relationship with CAMYEN now opens a stage of assessment of areas that will soon be put out to tender. The field visits will allow the process to move from the initial institutional discussions toward first-hand knowledge of the properties and their geological characteristics.

The process forms part of the state-owned company’s efforts to promote Catamarca’s mining potential and attract new players to the province’s exploration sector.
