Next Tuesday, May 21, Wednesday, May 22, and Thursday, May 23, Argentine mining will gather at the San Juan Mining Expo 2024, the most important sector event of the year, where strong decisions about the future of the activity are expected. Six governors, the Secretary of Mining of the Nation, and the main mining and supply companies will be present at the event, with the participation of key actors from both the local and international levels. The exhibition comes at a crucial moment for the industry amidst discussions about the RIGI and the need to energize major projects.

The exhibition, organized by Panorama Minero since 2006, has been declared of interest by the provinces of San Juan, Catamarca, Salta, Jujuy, and also by the Presidency of the Nation. During the three days, various announcements related to the work line of the provincial governments are expected on the eve of the Pact of May and the discussion about the “Ley Bases” and the RIGI (Large Investment Incentive Regime), while also delving into the status of the country's main mining projects with the participation of more than 30 mining companies and 300 firms linked to the sector.

The event will be inaugurated by the Governor of San Juan, Marcelo Orrego, while five other governors will accompany the three-day activities, especially through the signing of the Agreement for the Copper Task Force, where the maximum provincial leader along with Raúl Jalil (Catamarca), Alfredo Cornejo (Mendoza), Gustavo Sáenz (Salta), and Carlos Sadir (Jujuy) will seal a common roadmap linked to copper development in these regions. The goal is to promote the implementation of copper projects, one of the essential metals in the energy transition, and to generate strategic alliances at the federal level among pro-mining regions.

Additionally, the newly appointed Secretary of Mining of the Nation, Luis Lucero, will speak, delving into the national government's vision regarding mining and the projection in Argentina within a new political-economic scenario. Representing Córdoba, Martín Llaryora will also participate in the inauguration of San Juan Mining Expo, an event characterized by its federal imprint and the broad participation of actors from across the country. Furthermore, the President of the Mining Commission of the Nation, members of the Chamber of Deputies, and the Argentine Investment Agency will be part of the event.

At the private level, companies such as Barrick, Gualcamayo, Challenger Gold, Glencore MARA, and El Pachón, Filo Corp, and the top representatives of mega copper projects Josemaría, Los Azules, Altar, and Taca Taca will make their appearance.

Meanwhile, internationally, the event will be attended by delegations from 17 countries linked to the commercial and business circuit offered by Argentine mining, including the Ambassador of Canada, Reid Sirrs, and diplomatic bodies from Germany, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, the United States, France, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Poland, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland, and Turkey.
