The Catamarca Mining Chamber held its ordinary and extraordinary members’ assembly and formalized the renewal of its authorities for the 2025–2027 term. In this context, Abás Tanus Mafud was elected as the new president of the institution, representing Minera del Altiplano S.A. (Rio Tinto).

During his inaugural address, Tanus Mafud thanked the outgoing Board of Directors, chaired by José Ignacio Costa, also representing Minera del Altiplano S.A., and highlighted the institutional role the Chamber has played in recent years as a representative body for the provincial mining sector.

In his remarks, the newly appointed president referred to the current context of the activity, marked by the decline in international lithium prices and, at the same time, by expectations linked to the development of copper, gold and silver projects in the province. Within this framework, he underscored the importance of the Chamber actively participating in discussions related to competitiveness, infrastructure, suppliers and regulatory frameworks, both at the provincial and national levels.

The new leadership also emphasized the work initiated together with the mining chambers of Jujuy and Salta, as well as with the Argentine Chamber of Mining Companies (CAEM), aimed at building a regional agenda to address current and future challenges facing the sector in a coordinated manner. The Board of Directors reaffirmed its decision to continue these institutional coordination efforts.

During the Assembly, members also approved the financial statements for the 2022–2023, 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 periods, and moved forward with a reform of the institutional bylaws, aimed at updating the Chamber’s structure.

The Catamarca Mining Chamber further reported that “the new Board of Directors reflects the participation of companies linked to different segments of the activity and localities within the province”, and will be structured, through 2027, as follows:
