Scania has unveiled its new range of gas-powered engines in Argentina, led by the OC13 engine—an evolutionary leap in the Green Efficiency truck lineup. Available in two power versions (420 hp and 460 hp, with torque outputs of 2,100 Nm and 2,300 Nm respectively), this new platform ensures higher performance, lower fuel consumption, and a positive impact on the operational autonomy of transport fleets.

“We are extremely proud to expand our gas-powered solutions offering in Argentina, as they represent a real and readily available alternative to advance the decarbonization of transport,” said Sebastián Figueroa, CEO of Scania Argentina. He added: “With more power, better performance, and the ability to run on biomethane, we are taking a key step toward helping our customers reduce both costs and emissions without compromising reliability.”

The new OC13 engine features the G25 gearbox, which improves performance across the entire rev range, along with an optimized electronic management system that reduces internal losses and enhances ignition and injection efficiency. This redesign translates into a 6% reduction in fuel consumption.

In addition, the new engines comply with Euro 6 standards and strengthen the path toward the use of biomethane—an alternative fuel that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%. Scania is promoting this solution in collaboration with various players in the transport ecosystem, including freight providers, fuel suppliers, and government agencies.

The launch is supported by preferential financing rates through Scania Credit and is integrated into the brand’s service ecosystem: flexible repair and maintenance agreements, more than 19,000 connected vehicles in Argentina, and support from My Scania, Driver App, and ProDriver to maximize operational efficiency.

This initiative is moving forward in coordination with the National University of Catamarca (UNCA), within the framework of the transfer process and the new restructuring of Yacimientos Mineros de Agua de Dionisio (YMAD), a step that will grant the province majority control over the management of the state-owned mining company, together with the National University of Tucumán (UNT).
