The Los Azules project received the "Commitment to Literacy" Seal, a distinction awarded by the Government of San Juan Province to companies, foundations, and organizations that actively support the province's educational policies.
The recognition was received by General Manager Michael Meding, Legal and Institutional Affairs Manager Rodolfo Ovalles, and Sustainability Manager Mario Hernández. The ceremony was led by Governor Marcelo Orrego, accompanied by Vice Governor Fabián Martín, Minister of Education Silvia Fuentes, Secretary General of the Governor's Office Emilio Achem, and other provincial authorities.
During the event, the provincial government presented the progress achieved by the two programs that form the cornerstone of its education policy. The Provincial Literacy Plan "Comprendo y Aprendo" ("I Understand and I Learn") recorded a 3.6% improvement in reading fluency in just one year, expanded its coverage from 38% of schools in 2024 to 76% in 2025, and is expected to reach the entire provincial education system in 2026.
Meanwhile, the "Transformar la Secundaria" ("Transforming Secondary Education") program reached 100 secondary schools—with plans to expand to 270 schools by 2027—achieved a 17.9% improvement in Mathematics, trained 709 teachers, and provided training to 100 school leadership teams. The program incorporates robotics, project-based learning, strengthened Mathematics and Language curricula, and workplace training through internships with local companies.
Los Azules stated that investment in education is an essential component of its sustainable development model and its commitment to creating shared value with local communities. Supporting initiatives that strengthen learning processes and expand opportunities for future generations is considered key to building a better future.
