As part of its commitment to local development and social inclusion, MARA supported the municipal job training project “Valles y Sabores de Altura”, aimed at women from mountainous areas of the Santa María department.

The initiative, implemented in coordination with the Directorate for Women and Gender and Grupo L, sought to expand employment opportunities and encourage the creation of local enterprises.
On this occasion, the training—focused on hospitality and gastronomy—included the participation of women from the communities of Valle del Cajón, Ovejería, and Toro Yaco. The objective was to strengthen the role of women in productive spaces, contributing to community development.
Miguel Paredes, Community Relations representative at MARA, welcomed the implementation of a new joint project and stated: “The strong desire for self-fulfillment shown by the participants motivated us to move forward with this initiative, which promotes local employment and community growth.”
“The course included theoretical and practical classes on hospitality, regional gastronomy, and customer service, continuing to add value to training and education for regional development,” said Enrique Temer, Project Manager at Grupo L.
Participants highlighted that the workshops opened new opportunities to improve their projects. “It helped me a lot because I have a cooking venture focused on tourism, and the workshop allows me to continue growing my business,” said Paula Díaz from San Antonio del Cajón.
“Together with MARA and Grupo L, we successfully concluded a new gastronomy training program, this time aimed at people from mountainous areas, to strengthen the region’s tourism and productive development,” said Érica Inga, Mayor of Santa María.
At MARA, we celebrate these initiatives and reaffirm our commitment to local development, promoting inclusion, teamwork, and skills development that enhance the well-being of neighboring communities.
