Glencore Pachón has launched activities for the 2025–26 summer season, during which more than 25,000 meters of drilling are expected to be completed in the Pachón and Carnicería valleys.

The summer campaign will involve an investment of US$18 million and will run through April 2026. During this period, 44 drill holes are planned in order to complement geological, geotechnical, geochemical and hydrogeological data required for the development of the mining project.

In addition to drilling activities, the campaign will include upgrades and expansions of on-site camps, as well as road maintenance works aimed at strengthening safety conditions in light of the increased movement of company personnel and contracted service providers generated by the campaign.

In terms of employment and procurement, peak activity will involve up to 250 workers, with priority given to local labor from San Juan for the execution of planned activities. Currently, 180 direct employees are working at the El Pachón project, 75% of whom are from San Juan, while 300 workers are employed by contractor companies, 98% of them based in the province.

During 2025, Glencore Pachón allocated US$34.4 million to purchases and services from companies in San Juan. Of this total, 57% corresponded to suppliers from the Calingasta Department.

Bridges under development

At the same time, work continues in Calingasta on a project that is expected to mark a turning point for the department: the construction of bridges over the Colorado and Los Patos rivers.

This infrastructure will not only enhance road safety and improve mobility and access, but will also support tourism, mining, recreational and agricultural activities in the region, generating a positive impact on local development. Construction is being carried out by a San Juan–based company and, at peak installation, involved 120 workers, 90% of whom were from Calingasta.

Glencore Pachón continues to work toward improving community well-being and quality of life, while advancing a sustainable mining project.
