Description

Since its founding in 2003, Fortescue has discovered and developed significant iron ore deposits in Australia, establishing some of the world's most important mines.

Today, the company is one of the largest iron ore producers globally, committed to being the safest, lowest-cost, and most profitable mining company. Fortescue transports over 190 million tonnes annually and has delivered more than 2 billion tonnes of iron ore to customers since 2008.

Concurrently, Fortescue is rapidly diversifying to become an integrated global green energy and metals company, pioneering technologies to decarbonize heavy industries—including its own iron ore operations—while building a portfolio of renewable energy projects worldwide.

From its Latin American regional office in Buenos Aires, Fortescue conducts mineral exploration to support the acquisition of critical minerals for the energy transition, alongside green hydrogen and renewable energy initiatives. In Argentina, Fortescue is advancing mineral exploration projects in San Juan Province and developing green energy initiatives in Patagonia.

Since establishing a presence in San Juan, Fortescue has collaborated closely with local stakeholders to drive projects that benefit the region. The company is committed to generating a positive impact on the local community by promoting the development of a local value chain and prioritizing the hiring of San Juan-based suppliers.
