El Pachón

The El Pachón Project is a copper and molybdenum deposit located in the Department of Calingasta in the Province of San Juan, Argentina, at an altitude of between 3,600 and 4,200 m above sea level, 5 kilometers from the international border with Chile. The proposed mine operation plan includes the development and construction of an open pit mine plant to produce a copper concentrate. In August 2025, Glencore announced the application for El Pachón to join Argentina’s RIGI — Incentive Regime for Large Investments. A Final Investment Decision is expected to begin the construction of El Pachón in the first half of 2029, as well as the start of production in 2034.
