Governor Raúl Jalil, together with the Minister of Government, Fernando Monguillot, held a meeting with Zijin-Liex CEO Gao Jianneng to discuss the progress of the mining projects the company is developing in Catamarca province. Among the highlights was the construction of a new 132 kV high-voltage power line that will connect Tinogasta with Fiambalá — a key project aimed at addressing a long-standing demand from the people of Fiambalá.
With an additional investment of US$20 million, the 50-kilometer power line is expected to be completed by December. It will not only improve the energy supply to households but also boost tourism, mining, and agro-industry in the region. Currently, upgrades are being carried out at the Tinogasta transformer station, along with the installation of two 60 MVA transformers in Fiambalá.
During the meeting, discussions also covered logistics and permits for the first export trials through the San Francisco Pass, as well as the planning of a waste treatment plant that will serve both Tinogasta and Fiambalá, in coordination with the Ministry of Environment.
Meanwhile, Zijin-Liex launched a job search that sparked great interest within the community. The company highlighted the strong response and emphasized that the enthusiasm goes beyond just job seeking — it also reflects a willingness to receive training and join a rapidly growing mining industry in the province.
