Mining companies operating in San Juan Province, one of Argentina's leading mining regions, continue to reshuffle their senior management teams. The latest move sees Marcos Conca leave Glencore's El Pachón Copper Project to join Barrick Argentina as Corporate Affairs Manager.

By Panorama Minero

Conca had taken over the Corporate Affairs role at El Pachón in April 2026, following the retirement of Jorge Sausset, a long-serving executive at the project.

Before assuming that position, he worked in El Pachón's Legal Affairs department. His appointment was accompanied by the promotion of María Eugenia Basualdo to Community Relations Manager.

At Barrick Argentina, Conca will oversee Corporate Affairs activities across the company's operations in the country.

Changes at El Pachón

Conca's departure follows other recent appointments at the Glencore-operated copper project.

The company recently named Iván Grgic, former president of the San Juan Mining Chamber, as Public Affairs Manager after his tenure at the Vicuña copper project.

The latest appointments are part of a broader wave of executive changes across San Juan's mining industry.

Recent moves also include Marcelo Agulles, who transferred from Gualcamayo to Vicuña, and Santiago Victoria, who joined Minas Argentinas, operator of the Gualcamayo mine, in the Communications department.

The changes reflect increasing executive mobility as major copper and gold projects continue to advance across San Juan Province.
