The new office will include a mineralogical laboratory dedicated to mineral analysis and a training center focused on technical instruction and technological tools for clients and mining sector operators.

Fernando Samanez, Vice President of Sales for South America in the Projects and CAPEX division of the company, explained that Metso has maintained operations in Argentina for 25 years and is currently advancing an expansion of its local presence with a focus on San Juan.

Metso develops technology, equipment, and services for mining concentrator plants, including solutions for crushing, grinding, pumping, flotation, and tailings management. The company also provides equipment installation, after-sales service, spare parts, and operational support throughout the life cycle of mining projects.

During the mining exhibition, company representatives held meetings with operators and companies linked to projects under development in Argentina. Metso highlighted the growth of mining activity in San Juan, especially in Calingasta and Iglesia, where copper-related initiatives such as Los Azules and Vicuña are advancing.

The company also pointed out that infrastructure development appears among the main challenges accompanying mining growth in the province, within a context marked by early-stage construction works and new investments.

At the Expo, Metso presented virtual reality tools to showcase processes and equipment used in concentrator plants. Through this technology, visitors were able to digitally tour different operational sectors and visualize equipment such as crushers, mills, flotation cells, thickeners, and filters.

The company also showcased developments related to sustainability and circular economy initiatives. Among the examples mentioned was the recycling of used liners at a plant in Chile, where rubber and steel components from mining operations are reused.

According to the company, the latest generations of equipment demonstrate improvements in energy efficiency, reduced water consumption, and lower CO2 emissions.

Another key topic addressed during the exhibition was the training of human resources for mining. Metso emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration with universities, institutes, and technological centers to expand the availability of technical and professional labor in the region.
